Job Title: Medical Lab Technician
Location: Detroit, MI
Job Duration: 4 + months (Possibility of extension)

Job Description)
  • Conducts comprehensive evaluation of Members using care management tools and information/data review.
  • Coordinates and implements assigned care plan activities and monitors care plan progress.
  • Conducts multidisciplinary review to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Identifies and escalates quality of care issues through established channels.
  • Utilizes negotiation skills to secure appropriate options and services necessary to meet the member’s benefits and/or healthcare needs.
  • Utilizes influencing/ motivational interviewing skills to ensure maximum member engagement and promote lifestyle/behavior changes to achieve optimum level of health.
  • Provides coaching, information and support to empower the member to make ongoing independent medical and/or healthy lifestyle choices.
  • Helps member actively and knowledgeably participate with their provider in healthcare decision-making.
  • Monitoring, Evaluation and Documentation of Care: Utilizes case management and quality management processes in compliance with regulatory and accreditation guidelines and company policies and procedures.
 
Experience:
  • Case Management experience required.
  • Long Term Care experience preferred.
  • Microsoft Office including Excel, Teams.
 
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field required.
  • No Nurses.
 
Duties:
Job Summary:
  • Under direct supervision by laboratory technologist, leader and/or supervisor, and according to defined protocols, performs select procedures on blood and/or other body fluids or specimens, involving manual techniques or the use of laboratory instruments and information systems.
  • May perform phlebotomy as needed.
 
Education:
Required Education:
  • Completion of an Associate Degree Program in Medical Laboratory Technology or Laboratory Science.
Preferred Education:
  • N/A.
 
Required Certification & Licensure:
  • Certification from a recognized national certifying agency (ASCP or NCA).
Preferred Certification & Licensure:
  • N/A.
 
Skills:
Required Skills & Experience:
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others.
  • Demonstrated technical proficiency and theoretical knowledge sufficient to perform laboratory functions.
 
Schedule:
  • Candidate will be working on the Chemistry side of the lab.
 
REQUIRED: Completion of an Associate Degree Program in Medical Laboratory Technology or Laboratory Science, Certification from a recognized national certifying agency (ASCP or NCA), Minimum 2-3 years previous experience in this role or similar, Experience with Client equipment (with AU system experience preferred). Candidates with Sunquest LIS experience and automation experience are preferred.
  • Hours Per Week: 40.00.
  • Hours Per Day: 8.00.
