Job Description:
Assesses a well-defined problem and leads the development of a technical solution that meets the needs of the business and aligns with architectural standards.
Manages small- to moderate-sized solutions, or plays a key role on larger teams, working within the parameters of two to three sprints.
Provides direction to team members and/or vendors.
Advises product owners on discrete technology-related business problems; formulates options, including assessing their relative merits and risks; and works with product owners to determine the best solution.
This is platform team developing solution for data scientists and AIML engineers building pipelines, we build solutions for infrastructure + automation for things like access control, networking, data integrations, model refresh, A/B testing, observability, paved path terraform, etc.
Education:
Typically requires a Bachelors Degree and minimum of 5 years directly relevant work experience
Note: One of the following alternatives may be accepted:
PhD or Law + 3 yrs; Masters + 4 yrs; Associates degree + 6 yrs; High School + 7 yrs.
Looking For:
- Platform engineers typically talk about pipeline build, access control, data integration, networking (VPC, NAT Gateway), observability (Splunk, Signal FX, New Relic), terraform or IAC (Infrastructure as Code), ML flow etc.
- For us, recent Databricks experience is helpful.
NOT Looking For:
- If they have the data scientist title or talk about working with algorithms or building models, typically data scientists want to stay in that space and not be a platform engineer.
- For folks with IoT experience, this is edge work which tends to be very different. Here they are scaling with proximity to the end consumer in mind. We are looking at scaling at a global level for internal users or people coming to ***.com (where edge compute is not needed).
- As for healthcare, they tend to use technology that is very out of date so not always a fit
REQUIRED:
Strong Computer Science fundamentals
2+ years professional software development experience
Programming - Python AND Golang
Infrastructure as Code / Dev Ops practices and technologies like Terraform
AWS Cloud services experience
Experience developing and using microservices
IDEAL CANDIDATE:
Knowledgeable on AIML / machine learning concepts (ML Serving / ML Training, GenAI, RAG, Vector Databases, A/B Testing, Model Experimentation)
Experience with Big Data technologies (e. g. Spark, Kubernetes, Sagemaker)
Experience with Databricks ecosystem
Team:
Size of 15
