Job Summary:
- We are seeking an experienced Instructional Designer to assess training needs, design impactful learning solutions, and develop high-quality training materials for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- This role partners closely with clients, subject matter experts (SMEs), and project teams to deliver effective, scalable training aligned with business and system implementation goals.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct training needs assessments and job/task analyses by collaborating with clients and SMEs, including facilitating focus groups and workshops.
- Design and develop training solutions, including instructor-led, virtual, and eLearning content (PPTs, job aids, user guides, quick reference guides, etc.).
- Translate complex technical documentation (functional specs, test scripts, vendor materials) into clear, learner-friendly training content.
- Consult with stakeholders to recommend appropriate learning approaches and solutions.
- Facilitate train-the-trainer sessions and support training rollouts.
- Manage multiple training projects simultaneously, including Product, timelines, milestones, deliverables, and resources.
- Communicate project status, manage client expectations, and proactively address risks or roadblocks.
- Troubleshoot training-related issues and adapt solutions as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support training objectives.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Instructional Design, Business, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- 5+ years of experience designing and developing system-based and/or technical training materials.
- Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Proven experience applying instructional design and adult learning methodologies (e.g., ADDIE, SAM).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and tools such as SnagIt.
- Hands-on experience with at least one eLearning authoring tool (Articulate Storyline/Rise, Adobe Captivate, Camtasia, etc.).
- Excellent written, verbal, and facilitation skills, including experience delivering or supporting training sessions.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with clients, SMEs, vendors, and cross-functional teams.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and comfortable working in fast-paced or ambiguous environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working within a utility company or regulated environment.
- Experience using SharePoint for training development or content management.
- Experience supporting training as part of Agile software development projects.
- Background in procedure writing and project management.
