Job Summary

The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) provides advanced cardiopulmonary care to neonatal patients in a high-acuity NICU setting. The therapist utilizes evidence-based therapies and critical care techniques to manage and treat neonatal patients requiring respiratory support.




Required Qualifications

  • RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist)

  • RCP (Respiratory Care Practitioner)

  • BLS (AHA)

  • PALS (AHA)

  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)

  • Minimum 2 years of Respiratory Therapy experience

  • Level IV NICU experience preferred

  • Current applicable state license




Key Responsibilities

  • Administer respiratory care including oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, inhaled medications, airway clearance, and invasive/non-invasive ventilation

  • Manage ventilators and advanced respiratory equipment in a Level IV NICU environment

  • Participate in neonatal resuscitation and emergency response situations

  • Review physician orders and diagnostic results to determine appropriate respiratory interventions

  • Monitor and assess patient response to therapy, adjusting care as needed

  • Educate families on respiratory treatments and equipment

  • Accurately document all treatments, therapies, and supplies used

  • Adhere to infection control, HIPAA, and hospital safety policies

  • Collaborate effectively with neonatologists, nurses, and multidisciplinary care teams
