Specimen Technician
Job Title: Specimen Processing Technician I (SPT I)
Location: Tampa, FL
Duration: 3 months
Shift: 9 pm - 5:30 am
Overview:
The SPT I provides essential support in the Specimen Processing Department, handling tasks such as data entry, sample sorting, labeling, centrifugation, and delivery to the lab. This is a fast-paced, high-volume environment requiring accuracy, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities:

Perform high-volume data entry (6,000+ keystrokes/hour)

Handle and process biological specimens safely and efficiently

Follow compliance and test-ordering protocols (subject to change)

Maintain a clean and organized work area

Communicate effectively with team members

Adapt quickly to changes and daily workflow demands
Work Environment:
-
Biohazard lab setting; PPE required (lab coat, gloves, goggles, etc.)

Repetitive tasks in a production-focused environment
-
Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods
-
Majority of shifts are overnight; must be available for weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call as needed
Requirements:

High School diploma or equivalent
-
Strong English communication skills (spoken and written)

Reliable transportation (public transit/ride shares not accepted)

Punctuality and full-shift availability are mandatory
Preferred Qualifications:

Previous lab or hospital experience
-
Medical terminology knowledge

Familiarity with lab testing or specimen processing
