Job Title: Laboratory Technician
Job Location: Millsboro, DE
Job Duration: 6 months+
Shift: 6:00 am - 2:30 pm or 7:30 am - 4 pm (Mon - Fri)
Job Description:
Our Manufacturing Operations teams are the people that make our products. We work in the manufacturing plants with a “Safety First, Quality Always” mindset striving for continuous improvement. We work in the local plant connected to our global manufacturing network to ensure the highest quality of raw materials, intermediates and finished products.
Job Summary:
• Technician, Operations is skilled in own unit area and full proficient in skills in one unit area
• Accountable for critical laboratory procedures and duties in the production of veterinary products
• Works with moderate degree of supervision when needed to deviate from standard operating procedure
• Work with a variety of technical equipment while completing cell culture processes throughout the manufacturing cycle.
At all times, following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and adhering to all safety and company policies, perform duties assigned by department supervision.
Responsibilities:
•Cleaning work area including floors, walls, tables, etc.
• Prepare, clean, and sterilize glassware and equipment for use
• Assist with equipment setup and operation
• Assist with performing aseptic procedures including media preparation, antigen inoculation and harvest, tissue culture preparation and harvest, filling vaccines, etc.
• Concurrent record keeping including charts, logbooks, and all pertinent documentation.
• Demonstrates, always, safe work habits and maintains a safe work environment. Comprehends and complies with all safety and company policies and procedures.
• Filling, labeling, capping, packaging, and visual inspection of product
• Assist in training new team members
• Report all unusual, non-routine occurrences when performing tasks.
• May be accountable for accumulation, labeling and management of hazardous wastes, as appropriate to their area, providing they are properly trained prior to assignment.
• Assist with performing non-aseptic procedures including handling of poultry in the process of harvesting tissue or waste
• Assist in reviewing and developing SOP's, Production Outlines, Special Outlines
• Assist in reviewing production records and entering technical data into system
• Attend training classes, workshops, meetings, etc., as needed to improve job skills and product-related procedures.
• Assist in monitoring and requisitioning laboratory supplies.
Qualifications:
• High School diploma/GED Competency requirements:
• Able to apply knowledge and skills to complete assigned work within own area
• Recognizes problems and uses existing procedures to assess solutions
• Works on tasks to meet time frames set by others
• Ability to read, write and convey information and to effectively communicate information to colleagues at various levels
• Able to work flexible work schedule to meet the demands of the manufacturing process. This includes overtime, holidays and weekends.
• Aseptic clean room behaviors experience preferred
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and conversions
• This position may have varying hours based on the needs of the business
• May require a rotating shift
• Flexibility working overtime is a requirement in manufacturing
• Travel is not a part of this position. Must be able to lift 50-100lbs. with second person.
