Phlebotomist II
Job Title: Phlebotomist II
Location: Azle, TX
Duration: 3+ Months (Possibility of Extension)
Shift: Monday – Friday, 6:30 AM – 3:30 PM
Job Summary
The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) serves as the face of the organization, providing exceptional patient care while performing accurate and safe blood specimen collection. This role requires direct patient interaction, excellent phlebotomy skills, and a strong commitment to quality, confidentiality, and customer service. The PSR II works in a variety of settings including Patient Service Centers, physician offices, and mobile/in-office locations as business needs dictate.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily phlebotomy and specimen processing activities accurately, safely, and in a timely manner
- Draw high-quality blood samples while following established procedures and best practices
- Explain procedures clearly to patients and create an atmosphere of trust, professionalism, and confidence
- Perform both clinical and forensic specimen collection and processing
- Verify patient demographics and ensure proper specimen labeling in the presence of the patient, including patient signature when required
- Maintain accurate documentation and required records
- Uphold patient confidentiality and ensure accuracy of patient information
- Maintain a safe, clean, and professional work environment
- Demonstrate leadership behaviors and a commitment to process excellence
- Promote a positive image of the organization to patients, clients, employees, and the public
- Work under the direction of the area supervisor and follow all company policies and procedures
Job Requirements & Qualifications
- Ability to produce high-quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision
- Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections
- Flexible availability to meet staffing needs, including weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call as required
- Capable of handling multiple priorities in a high-volume setting
- Strong decision-making skills using established procedures and sound judgment
- Superior customer service skills with clear, professional communication
- Ability to adapt to change and work effectively across multiple locations
- Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and clean driving record (if applicable)
- Willingness to travel and work flexible hours, including short-notice coverage at PSC or in-office locations
Education Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (Required)
- Medical training (Medical Assistant or Paramedic) preferred
- Phlebotomy certification preferred
- Required in California, Nevada, and Washington
Work Experience Requirements
- 1–3 years of phlebotomy experience required, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a Patient Service Center environment preferred
- Prior customer service experience in a retail or service environment strongly preferred
- Keyboarding and data entry experience required
