Job Title: Echocardiographic Technician
Location: Saint Joseph, MI 49085
Duration: 3 Months+ (Possibilities of Extension)
Shift Time: Variable (Start times may be 7:00 AM, 7:30 AM, or 8:00 AM)
Shift Length: 8 hours (36-hour guarantee)
Weekend Rotation: Every 4th or 5th weekend
On Call: Yes
Scrub Color: Burgundy
Job Summary:
Performs a variety of cardiac testing including stress, transesophageal, transthoracic, dobutamine stress echocardiograms, and others as indicated (ICE, 3D, strain, specialty, and fetal echocardiograms). Calculates acquired data and prepares studies for medical staff interpretation.

Job Summary:
Performs a variety of cardiac testing including stress, transesophageal, transthoracic, dobutamine stress echocardiograms, and others as indicated (ICE, 3D, strain, specialty, and fetal echocardiograms). Calculates acquired data and prepares studies for medical staff interpretation.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reviews patient chart and selects the most appropriate procedural methodology.
- Performs ultrasound tests appropriate for patient-specific morphology and pathology.
- Performs calculations per protocol and uses critical thinking skills to assess validity of calculations.
- Documents exam performance in electronic medical records and hospital financial systems.
- Attends departmental staff, educational, and informational meetings. Participates as required in workgroups, quality assurance (QA) meetings, and team-building sessions.
- Informs patients, significant others, and health care team members about procedures, equipment, and related activities.
- Calculates acquired data and prepares materials for medical staff interpretation.
- Actively demonstrates ongoing continuous education efforts in cardiac sonography and shows professional commitment by membership in local and national Sonography societies.
Education:
- Associate's Degree from an accredited ultrasound program or equivalent.
Experience, Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
- Training and experience in echo including two-dimensional, Doppler, color Doppler, transesophageal echocardiology (TEE), transthoracic echocardiograms (TTE), stress echo, and understanding of complex congenital heart disease and surgical repairs.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience with the above modalities.
Licenses/Certifications:
- CRT-Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer, Registered (RDCS) - ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography) upon hire OR
- CRT-Cardiac Sonographer, Registered (RCS) upon hire
- CRT-Pediatric Echocardiography (PE) - ARDMS upon hire
- CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA or client-specific BLS certification within 90 days of hire
