General Job Description:
Purpose of the position
To assist Client-Client facilities in NA to Product the health of their employees, contractors and tollers
To assist Client-Client facilities in NA to comply with legal and internal standards related to industrial hygiene
To provide high level expertise in the field of industrial hygiene
To raise awareness on industrial hygiene by interacting with all levels of the organization within the region
To continuously develop and maintain the industrial hygiene competence in Client-Client NA to such a level that Client-Client NA can deliver on its SHE and Security values, policies and improvement targets.
To cooperate in setting the strategic direction for industrial hygiene for whole company by actively participating to the industrial hygiene tier I network.
Position Context
Client is a recognized leader in Safety, Health, Environment (SHE) and Security worldwide and the SHE & Security performance is a cornerstone of our people and business continuity.
Client is currently organized in four business units (HNC, TTH, P&B, ANH). All the regional and global SHE and Security competences are clustered together under GOE (Client-Client Group Operational Excellence).
Client has manufacturing sites, Science & Innvovation facilities and offices across all regions. The regional SHE & Security department supports all businesses within the region
Doing business means taking risks. The spread of different activities, operations, cultures and maturity leads to a challenging playing field that requires continuous tuning and judgment to
enable business to stay competitive without compromising our values and ambitions.
The SHE and Security risks represent major potential business continuity, compliance and
reputation risks; it is key to stay on top of those by preventing major disasters and harm to people and assets, e.g. in process and product safety and in consequent implementation of the Life Saving Rules, Client-Client requirements and Standards and the Key Security Behaviors.
Client-Client grows via globally spread acquisitions, which adds to the complexity and size of the organization. It is essential to identify and mitigate/manage the major risks in those acquisitions/expansions with urgency and diligence and develop regional competences for local support.
Position Content:
Key areas of accountability/responsibility
Supports/facilitates the timely and effective implementation of industrial hygiene standards.
Supports in achieving the company targets.
Provides support, leadership and expertise to the Regional SHE&S team.
Defines knowledge gaps and develops competences.
Leads the regional Industrial Hygiene network.
Is an active member of the Industrial Hygiene Tier I network. Cooperates to the creation of global standards, processes and tools in industrial hygiene.
Connects with external service providers.
Support the investigation and follow up of health incidents
Create, foster and maintain an environment of cross-regional collaboration, synergies seek, best practices-/knowledge sharing and learning to achieve an incident-free working environment.
Monitor progresses and performance in industrial hygiene within the region
Authorities
Lead and represent industrial hygiene in the Client-Client NA and leads working groups for specific recurring topics
Improve awareness and competence of industrial hygiene by practical support and coaching
Provide (un)solicited advise to units and senior management to address industrial hygiene issues
Stop any unsafe behavior or activities.
Escalate local industrial hygiene issues that needs to be addressed at BU or global level.
Impact:
If SHE and Security situations are misjudged, downside risks of several dozen or dozen of millions (fines, claims and /or damages) could be the result.
Ineffective or impractical SHE and Security solutions, requirements or systems can provoke considerable costs in operating units (millions or dozens of millions in investments and/or operating costs).
Complexity of the position
Due to the huge differences in Client-Client operations, cultures, sizes and capabilities, it will be complex and sometime impossible to maintain fit- for-all solutions.
The position requires to be recognized by stakeholders as an expert in the field of industrial hygiene. It requires a deep understanding of processes and health hazards involved.

Dealing with business sensitive or privacy-related topics
Applying a science and risk-based approach with courage and determination.
A combination of short-term issues like incident reporting and investigation and a long term strategic view.
Operate in a fast changing international and demanding environment with many clients and changing priorities.
Very frequent traveling is an intrinsic part of the job, since the support activities mostly need to be done on site.
Knowledge:
Knowledge of and experience in own discipline
- In-depth knowledge of industrial hygiene legal requirement and international best practices
- At least ~ 5 years of practical experience in industrial hygiene in the chemical or pharmaceutical industry
Managerial and social skills
- good communication and social skills
- English mother language or fluency. Knowledge of one or more of the official Client-Client languages is a plus.
- Excellent advisory skills
- Drive for performance
- Good knowledge of local IH/OH laws and regulations.
