Credentialing Specialist

Job Title: Credentialing Specialist
Location: Salt Lake City, UT (100% Remote)
Duration: 6 Months+ (Possibility of Extension)
Shift: Mon-Fri (8:00 am - 4:30 pm)
 
Job Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the primary credentialing liaison for hospitals, providers, and network participating providers regarding credentialing services.
  • Facilitate all aspects of the centralized credentialing verification program with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Enter all provider information into credentialing software and other relevant programs.
  • Process initial credentialing and recredentialing applications, ensuring primary source documentation is captured in computer databases.
  • Prepare and maintain reports related to credentialing activities, such as accreditation, membership, or facility privileges.
  • Ensure all credentialing applications comply with applicable laws, regulations, procedures, and policies.
  • Stay updated on changes to credentialing guidelines and ensure records and applications are up-to-date and ready for review by Credentialing Committees.
  • Maintain frequent contact with medical staff services professionals, administrators, medical directors, and practitioners.
  • Keep the Medical Staff Services Director informed of any issues or concerns related to credentialing.
  • Perform other duties related to credentialing and administrative tasks as assigned.

Skills:
  • Medical Terminology: Demonstrated understanding of medical terminology.
  • Medical Field Experience: Experience working in the medical field in an administrative or support role.
  • Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work well in a team.
  • Computer Technology: Proficient in using computer technology to perform job functions.
  • Software Skills: Must have intermediate level experience with Word, Excel, Adobe, and OneNote.
  • Comfortable learning and using a sophisticated database program.
  • Workload Management: Demonstrated workload management and prioritization skills.
  • Self-Motivation & Independence: Ability to function with minimal supervision, be self-motivated, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Adaptability: Ability to adapt to frequent interruptions and remain productive.
  • Problem-Solving & Decision-Making: Strong skills in problem-solving, decision-making, and adaptability.
  • Organizational Skills: Excellent organization and communication skills.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Working knowledge of TJC, NCQA standards, as well as state and federal guidelines and requirements.
 
Preferred Education:
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution. Degree will be verified.
 
Preferred Certifications & Licensure:
  • Certification by the National Association of Medical Staff Services.
  • Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) by the National Association of Medical Staff Services (NAMSS).
  • Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM) by the National Association of Medical Staff Services (NAMSS).
 
Additional Details:
  • Remote position with Simplified Benefits Administrators.
  • Experience or familiarity with provider credentialing is preferred.
