Shift/Time Zone: 6:30 AM - 5:00 PM (Eastern Time)




Job Description:

The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) is the face of our company, responsible for interacting directly with patients, either as part of their regular health routines or for more critical health decisions. The PSR II is skilled in drawing quality blood samples and preparing specimens for lab testing while adhering to established practices and procedures.

This role creates an atmosphere of trust and confidence with patients by explaining procedures and performing blood draws in a safe, accurate, and skillful manner. The PSR II will demonstrate leadership behaviors while focusing on process excellence, confidentiality, and the accuracy of patient information. This position may be assigned to a doctor's office, patient service center, or other locations as business needs dictate.

Under the direction of the area supervisor, the PSR II is expected to perform daily activities with attention to detail and in a timely manner while maintaining a safe and professional environment.




Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Interaction: Draw blood specimens in a skillful, safe, and accurate manner, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections. Maintain a professional, positive image while explaining procedures to patients.

  • Specimen Processing: Accurately label blood specimens and ensure patient demographic information is correct. Verify patient signature post-venipuncture.

  • Record Keeping: Maintain required records and documentation for all procedures. Demonstrate organizational commitment and ensure documentation is precise and up to date.

  • Customer Service: Provide superior customer service by communicating openly with patients, peers, and supervisors. Demonstrate excellent customer focus in all interactions.

  • Safety and Compliance: Follow company policies and procedures, including employee health & safety regulations and dress codes. Comply with all guidelines for specimen collection and handling.

  • Travel and Flexibility: Must be able to work at multiple locations and adapt to changing work schedules with minimal notice. Travel may be required to cover staffing needs at different Patient Service Centers or In-Office Phlebotomy locations.




Job Requirements:

  • Experience: At least 3 years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections. A minimum of 2 years of experience in a Patient Service Center environment is preferred.

  • Skills: Excellent phlebotomy skills with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to prioritize tasks and handle multiple priorities efficiently.

  • Customer Service: Experience in customer service, especially in retail or service environments, is highly preferred. Ability to maintain a positive, professional demeanor when interacting with patients and team members.

  • Transportation: Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record (if applicable).

  • Flexibility: Must be flexible to work on weekends, holidays, on-call, or overtime as needed based on business demands.

  • Judgment: Ability to make decisions based on established procedures and exercise good judgment.

  • Computer Skills: Must have keyboard/data entry experience and be proficient with basic computer programs.




Education and Certification:

  • Required: High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Preferred: Medical assistant or paramedic training.

  • Phlebotomy Certification: Required




Additional Information:

  • Training Locations: Training may be conducted at various locations based on trainer availability.
