Duration:3+ Months
Shift/Time Zone:10:30pm-7am
Pay Rate: $21/hr on w2
Job Summary
The Laboratory Operations Assistant supports daily laboratory activities by performing routine, standardized tasks with accuracy and efficiency. This role assists laboratory professionals in specimen processing, equipment maintenance, quality assurance, and workflow support to ensure timely and reliable laboratory operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Receive, sort, and log specimens in the laboratory department

Centrifuge specimens and prepare samples for testing

Print and apply specimen labels accurately

Prepare specimens at workstations, including:

Building worklists
-
Aliquoting specimens into sample containers
-
Inspecting specimens for clots or fibrin
-
Inoculation and slide preparation
-

Prepare reagents and/or media according to department protocols
-
Perform routine instrument maintenance on assigned equipment
-
Record and maintain temperature charts and other required data

Store, retrieve, and track specimens as needed

Perform quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) tasks as assigned

Resolve pending test lists and locate missing samples

Decontaminate work areas and maintain a clean, safe laboratory environment

Perform weekly radioactive wipe tests

Maintain departmental files and documentation
-
Change gas cylinders following safety guidelines
-
Dispose of biohazardous materials in compliance with regulations
-
Follow all personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements and safety policies
-
Use laboratory information systems (LIS) and computer systems effectively
-
Complete required training, competency assessments, and documentation
Education Requirements
-
High school diploma or equivalent (required)
-
Medical assistant training (preferred)
-
Coursework in math and science (preferred)
