Phlebotomist I
Job Title: Patient Services Representative I (Phlebotomist)
Duration: 4 months, possibility of extension based on performance and other factors
Hours per Week: 40 hours
Shift/Time Zone: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–4:30 PM; Rotating Saturdays, 7:00 AM–2:00 PM
Location: Port Saint Lucie, FL — Candidates must live within 20–25 minutes of the site.
Job Description:
The Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) serves as the face of the organization, providing a positive and professional experience to patients seeking routine health care or diagnostic testing. This position is responsible for drawing quality blood specimens and preparing them for lab testing, while maintaining a safe and supportive environment.
Working under the direction of the area supervisor, the PSR I follows standardized procedures to ensure accurate and timely specimen collection and patient interactions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform daily specimen collection and processing tasks accurately and on schedule.
- Draw blood samples from patients, including pediatric and geriatric populations, using safe and effective techniques.
- Explain procedures clearly and build trust with patients to create a comfortable experience.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and professional work environment.
- Follow all clinical and forensic collection protocols.
- Handle patient records and data with complete confidentiality.
- Demonstrate leadership behaviors and a commitment to process excellence.
- Represent the organization positively to patients, clients, and the public.
Requirements:
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent (REQUIRED).
- Medical assistant or paramedic training (PREFERRED).
- Phlebotomy certification (PREFERRED)
Experience:
- Minimum of 6 months phlebotomy experience (REQUIRED).
- 1+ years of phlebotomy experience (PREFERRED).
- Customer service experience in a retail or service environment (PREFERRED).
- Proficiency with keyboard/data entry (REQUIRED).
Skills and Availability:
- Ability to perform quality, error-free work in a high-volume environment.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Must be flexible and available for rotating shifts, including weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime.
- Reliable transportation to and from the worksite.
- Must be punctual and available for the full duration of assigned shifts.
