Paramedic Emergency Medical Services

Careers Integrated Resources Inc Longview, TX (Onsite) Contractor


SHIFT: 24 hour shifts, 6AM-6AM. 24 hours on/48 hours off. Will be scheduled for two shifts per week.

PHTLS (Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support) certification required . Can be obtained through CHRISTUS, but certification process will need to be completed off the clock.

  • Types of cases: Will see all types of emergencies from pediatric to geriatric. Basically it is an ER on wheels
  • Experience needed: Experienced Paramedic skills are necessary, only one day of academy and one 24 hour ride-out before contractor is expected to work independently. Paramedic/EMT on every truck.

Summary:

The Paramedic Emergency Medical Services is responsible for administering appropriate emergency medical treatment to people who have been injured in accidents or have other medical conditions. Must be able to operate an advanced life support ambulance to administer care. Routinely assist with the inspection of the ambulance and related equipment to ensure proper operation and sanitary cleanliness.

Responsibilities:

  1. Respond to the site of life-threatening situations, emergency medical situations and non-emergency calls.
  2. Coordinate response activities with physicians to develop a plan of care based upon the assessment of the patient.
  3. Lead a team of responders by coordinating activities to conduct triage, develop treatment plans, administer medical care and prepare patient for transport to medical facility.
  4. Insure the proper functioning of all emergency medical equipment and vehicles through regular checks; insure adequate inventory supply is maintained aboard emergency vehicles through regular checks.
  5. Assist in the cleaning of station locations.
  6. Interact with firefighters, law enforcement and other non-medical personnel at emergency scenes.
  7. Perform related administrative tasks; completes necessary State and local paperwork; prepare detailed documentation of patient care.
  8. Handle hazardous materials and ensure appropriate disposal in hazardous materials. Ensure compliance to all OSHA regulations for Infection Control, Hazardous Materials Standards, and all job related duties.
  9. Respond to multiple casualty incidents and disasters and provide appropriate medical oversight, triage, care, and transport in coordination with other responders.
  10. Participate in periodic in-service training or as needed basis for any certified and non-certified updates relating to Emergency Medical Services and federal, State, and local EMT-P requirements.
  11. Operate and utilize an ambulance and related medical care response equipment and tools needed in response situations.
  12. Make decisions that conform to the norms, policies, and values of Champion EMS and adhere to federal, state, and local compliance and policy requirements.
  13. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Education/Skills

  1. High School Diploma

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

  1. DL in state of TX
  2. EMT P License in state of TX
  3. PHTLS (Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support) certification required. Can be obtained through CHRISTUS, but certification process will need to be completed off the clock.
  4. ACLS (AHA only)
  5. BLS (AHA only)
  6. PALS (AHA only)
