Location: Ellenton, FL
Duration: 4+ Months (Possibility of Extension)
Shift: 6:00 AM – 3:00 PM, Monday–Friday, with rotational Saturdays
Position Overview
The Phlebotomist I / Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) serves as the frontline representative for patients visiting the facility—either for routine health maintenance or critical diagnostic needs. This role is responsible for collecting highquality blood specimens, ensuring accurate preparation for laboratory testing, and maintaining strict adherence to established procedures.
The PSR I interacts directly with patients and must create an environment of trust, professionalism, and comfort. This includes clearly explaining procedures, performing safe and precise blood draws, and practicing excellent patient care while upholding confidentiality and accuracy at all times.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily activities accurately, efficiently, and within assigned timeframes under the supervision of the area supervisor.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and professional work environment.
- Execute both forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing following established protocols.
- Conduct high-quality venipuncture procedures, including collections from pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients.
- Ensure all records, logs, and documentation are completed accurately and maintained as required.
- Provide exceptional customer service, promoting a positive image to patients, clients, and the general public.
- Demonstrate strong organizational commitment and adherence to company standards.
- Uphold all confidentiality and patient information protection guidelines.
- Support staffing needs by being available for weekends, holidays, oncall duties, and overtime as required.
Job Requirements
- Ability to deliver accurate, errorfree work in a fastpaced environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal onsite supervision.
- Strong communication and patientinteraction skills.
- Excellent phlebotomy skills, with experience in pediatric and geriatric collections.
- Flexibility to meet operational needs, including adjusting to schedule changes and extended hours.
- Consistent punctuality and reliability—excessive tardiness or absenteeism is not tolerated.
- Reliable personal transportation (public transit, Uber, rideshare, or being dropped off does not qualify as reliable transportation).
Education Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent — Required
- Medical assistant or paramedic training — Preferred
- Phlebotomy certification — Preferred
- Required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
Work Experience
- Minimum 6 months of phlebotomy experience — Required
- 1+ year phlebotomy experience — Preferred
- Customer service experience in retail or service environment — Preferred
- Proficient keyboarding/data entry skills — Required
Additional Notes
- Candidates must list home city and commute time to job site on their resume (acceptable commute: 20–25 minutes).
- Pay rate is based solely on years of direct phlebotomy experience as reflected on the resume.
Overlapping roles will not be counted twice. - Must be available for all scheduled shifts and remain for the full duration of each shift.
