Job Title: Laboratory Technician
Location: Philadelphia, PA 19112
Duration: 06+ month possible ext

Schedule: 2nd Shift 2 pm – 10:30 pm
 
Role Summary:
With minimal guidance and within established procedures, the individual will conduct both routine and complex research laboratory activities in support of the *** Global Innovation Center. This role supports Chemists and Engineers throughout the research and development process. Responsibilities may also include data management and analysis of experimental results.
 
Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design of experiments, conduct those experiments independently, and collect, summarize, and present the resulting data.
  • Prepare and evaluate coating formulations including electro-coat, primer, topcoat, and clear coat using mixing and spray equipment.
  • Train and become proficient in the use of application equipment to spray coating formulations on test substrates.
  • Accurately perform tests and record results for all coatings formulations.
  • Troubleshoot problems in the laboratory and collaborate with research investigators when unexpected results occur.
  • Document findings and communicate results using Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, Teams).
  • Make suggestions for future direction and contribute to formulating work plans and managing daily workflow.
  • Inspect and conduct routine maintenance on experimental equipment.
  • Maintain inventory of necessary chemicals and supplies for experiment completion.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Safely handle, categorize, and dispose of chemicals routinely.
  • Manage multiple tasks effectively under strict time constraints.
 
Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience:
  • Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in a chemical or life-science related field, or equivalent job experience in an industrial laboratory environment.
 
Other Qualifications:
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work independently and in a team setting.
  • Capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously and meeting deadlines.
  • Comfortable and experienced with handling hazardous materials safely.
  • Strong interest in hands-on work with a focus on understanding product functionality.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Solid problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to write routine reports and business correspondence.
  • Proficient in computer skills with the ability to analyze data and trends.
