Job Title: Route Service Representative (RSR)




Summary

The Route Service Representative (RSR) serves as the face of *** and acts as a company ambassador to our clients and the public. The RSR is responsible for the daily operations of assigned routes, ensuring the accurate tracking, safe handling, and timely transportation of patient specimens, supplies, and other medical materials. This position plays a critical role in maintaining service excellence, safety, and compliance with all company and regulatory standards.




Duties and Responsibilities

  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, including timekeeping, attendance, safety, OSHA requirements, vehicle maintenance, specimen handling, and use of handheld/scanning devices.

  • Safely and efficiently transport specimens, supplies, reports, and equipment to designated locations.

  • Operate company vehicles responsibly while maintaining a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record in accordance with company guidelines.

  • Begin each route fully prepared with all necessary tools and equipment (scanner, route logs, carry bags, temperature-controlled coolers, dry ice, cell phone, keys, and other required materials).

  • Follow the scheduled route sequence, accommodating will-call stops and special pickups as needed.

  • Maintain specimen integrity at all times by using appropriate temperature-controlled storage and transport methods.

  • Complete all required scanning and documentation, including tissue, irreplaceable, and frozen specimen tracking.

  • Leave “Door Hangers” at client locations when specimens are unavailable, and notify your Supervisor or Team Leader for follow-up as necessary.

  • Communicate with Dispatch before leaving an area to confirm completion of all will-calls.

  • Keep route information, sequencing, and client notes current and accurate.

  • Attend meetings and training sessions punctually, completing all assigned training requirements on time.

  • Properly care for company equipment (scanners, phones, vehicles, etc.) and report any maintenance or repair needs promptly.

  • Gather and communicate client feedback to Logistics Management as needed.

  • Demonstrate professionalism, customer focus, and service excellence in every interaction, aligned with the company’s Five Guiding Principles: Agility, Customer Focus, Transparency, Teamwork, and Performance.




Qualifications

Required Work Experience

  • Valid driver’s license with at least one (1) year of driving experience.

  • Clean Motor Vehicle Record (no more than three moving violations within the last 36 months).

Preferred Work Experience

  • One (1) year of experience in customer service, logistics, or delivery operations preferred.




Physical and Mental Requirements

  • Regular travel required.

  • Frequent use of handheld devices and phones.

  • Prolonged periods of standing, walking, sitting, and driving.

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs regularly and occasionally up to 40 lbs; carry up to 15 lbs for extended periods.

  • Fine motor skills and manual dexterity for specimen handling and scanning.

  • Strong visual attention to detail and ability to see in low-light environments.

  • Frequent bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling, reaching, and twisting.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English with clients, supervisors, and colleagues.
