Job Title: Specimen Processing Technician I (SPT I)
Location: Green Bay, WI 54301 (100% Onsite)
Duration: 3 months+ Contract (Opportunity to be extended or be converted to FT, but NOT Guaranteed)
Shift Time: Night Shift (Primarily Overnight)
Schedule Requirements: Must be flexible to work weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as needed
Position Summary:
The Specimen Processing Technician I (SPT I) provides essential support in the Specimen Processing Department. This role requires strong data entry skills and the ability to manage various laboratory preparation tasks with accuracy and timeliness. The position involves handling a variety of specimen types and supporting compliance with evolving test ordering regulations. A high level of adaptability and organizational skill is required in this fast-paced, production-oriented environment.

The position involves handling a variety of specimen types and supporting compliance with evolving test ordering regulations. A high level of adaptability and organizational skill is required in this fast-paced, production-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform general specimen processing functions including:
- A-station tasks
- Presorting
- Pickup and delivery of processed specimens
- Imaging/microfilming
- Centrifugation and aliquoting
- Enter data accurately at a speed of at least 6,000 alphanumeric keystrokes/hour
- Work confidently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Ensure accurate identification of specimen types and proper labeling
- Follow compliance regulations related to test ordering (subject to frequent updates)
- Communicate effectively with staff at all levels
- Maintain a clean, organized, and biohazard-safe work area
- Practice good safety habits and follow institutional protocols
- Adapt quickly to frequent operational and procedural changes
- Maintain high standards of quality and productivity
Work Environment:
- Production lab setting with performance metrics tied to turnaround and quality standards
- Extended periods of sitting or standing required
- Exposure to biohazardous materials with appropriate safety measures in place
Education Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
Preferred Qualifications & Experience:
- Basic computer skills required
- Preferred knowledge of laboratory testing and/or specimen processing
- Medical background or familiarity with medical terminology is a plus
- Prior experience in a hospital laboratory or production environment preferred, but not required
