Phlebotomist I

Title: Phlebotomist I
Location: Saint Augustine, FL, 32086
Shift: Mon-Fri 600a-300p. Mandatory Saturday rotation 7a-12p. 35-40 hours per week. No Overtime.
Duration: 6 Months

 

Job Summary:
The Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) serves as the face of the organization to patients, providing professional and compassionate care during each visit. The PSR I is responsible for performing high-quality blood collections, preparing specimens for laboratory testing, and maintaining accuracy and confidentiality in all patient interactions. This role requires excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment.




Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform venipuncture, capillary puncture, and specimen collection according to established protocols and safety standards.

  • Accurately label, process, and prepare specimens for laboratory testing.

  • Greet and assist patients in a professional and courteous manner, ensuring a positive patient experience.

  • Explain collection procedures to patients and provide reassurance throughout the process.

  • Maintain accurate and complete documentation for all specimens and patient interactions.

  • Follow all infection control, safety, and compliance procedures.

  • Perform daily site operations accurately and on time under the supervision of the area supervisor.

  • Ensure cleanliness, organization, and professionalism in the work environment.

  • Exhibit leadership behaviors and a commitment to quality improvement.

  • Promote a positive image of the organization to patients, clients, and the public.




Qualifications:

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Required)

  • Medical Assistant or Paramedic training (Preferred)

  • Phlebotomy certification (Preferred; Required in CA, NV, and WA)

Experience:

  • Minimum of 6 months of phlebotomy experience (Required)

  • 1+ years of experience in a phlebotomy or healthcare setting (Preferred)

  • Previous experience in customer service, retail, or a fast-paced service environment (Preferred)

  • Data entry and computer literacy (Required)




Skills & Competencies:

  • Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to provide accurate, error-free work with minimal supervision.

  • Dependable, punctual, and able to work flexible schedules, including weekends, holidays, and overtime.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and accuracy in patient information.




Additional Requirements:

  • Reliable transportation to and from the worksite (bus, Uber, or rideshare not acceptable).

  • Must live within 20–25 minutes commute of the assigned work location.

  • Consistent attendance and punctuality required.
