Contract: 12 Months and Possibility of Extension
Work hours: 8am to 5pm M-F
Note - Travel up to 12 times a year to the company s Florida site (two consecutive weekdays per visit).
GENERAL FUNCTION
The Licensed Optician Wearer s Study Support will collaborate closely with the Transitions Wearer s Study Coordinator to fit and dispense eyewear to participants involved in clinical trials of experimental ophthalmic lens coatings. This role combines technical optical expertise with personalized patient care, guiding participants in selecting eyewear that suits their prescription needs and personal style.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Travel to and work on-site at the Florida facility for two consecutive weekdays per visit, up to 12 visits per year (maximum of 24 days annually).
Maintain flexible weekday availability (Monday Friday only) to accommodate scheduled visits.
Fit, adjust, and dispense prescription eyewear to study participants in accordance with trial protocols.
Provide expert guidance on frame selection based on individual style, facial features, and lifestyle.
Become familiar with and adhere to Transitions testing methodology and study procedures.
Ensure compliance with all licensing and certification requirements for optical dispensing in Florida.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Licensed Optician in the state of Florida (e.g., ABO-NCLE certification).
Associate degree or higher in Opticianry, Ophthalmic Dispensing, or a related field.
Minimum of 2 years experience in optical dispensing or a retail optical environment.
Skilled in using optical tools such as lensometers and pupilometers.
Demonstrated ability to fit and adjust a wide range of eyewear styles and lens types.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on patient care.
Commitment to maintaining active licensure and completing required continuing education.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience recommending eyewear and lens options tailored to lifestyle and prescription needs.
Awareness of current eyewear trends and ability to guide patients in frame selection.
Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
