Job Title: Facilities Maintenance Technician
Location: Frederick, MD 21704
Contract Duration: 03+ months (possible extension)
 
Shift: Monday to Friday, 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM (2nd Shift)
Compensation: $31/hr. on W2

Job Summary:
• Responsible for providing mechanical maintenance services and ensuring operational readiness of critical infrastructure in a Manufacturing/R&D/Distribution environment.
• Perform preventive maintenance, respond to equipment alarms, and support compliance with regulatory standards including FDA, EH&S, cGMP, and ISO.
 
Key Responsibilities:
Facility Operations & Maintenance:
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on building systems and equipment.
• Restore critical environments after maintenance or incidents.
• Respond to and resolve facility-related alarms and equipment issues.
• Monitor HVAC and other mechanical systems to ensure consistent operation.
 
Technical Support & Documentation:
• Maintain accurate records of facility operations, parts usage, and repairs.
• Record and track daily meter readings.
• Update and maintain CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
• Support the creation of Preventive Maintenance (PM) documentation and SOPs.
 
System Knowledge & Oversight:
• Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of site infrastructure and equipment.
• Operate and monitor HVAC systems, boilers, pure steam generators, autoclaves, and washers.
• Mentor and guide junior team members.
• Participate in on-call rotation and respond to emergencies as needed.
 
Operational Compliance:
• Ensure maintenance operations comply with FDA, EH&S, cGMP, and ISO standards.
• Utilize appropriate PPE and follow all safety protocols.
• Support audits and continuous improvement activities.
 
Data & Asset Management:
• Accurately document maintenance activities and asset data.
• Use CMMS for scheduling and tracking work orders.
• Assist with asset reliability analysis and risk identification.
 
Qualifications
Education:
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Certification in multiple mechanical/electrical trades required.
• Current CFC certification required.
 
Experience & Skills:
• Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in a large facility environment.
• Strong working knowledge of electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and refrigeration systems.
• Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Experience using CMMS and client-specific management systems.
• Knowledge of regulatory standards including FDA, EH&S, cGMP, and ISO.
 
Working Conditions & Requirements
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and work in varied environments (e.g., rooftops, labs).
• Potential exposure to hazardous materials and chemicals.
• Required use of PPE; occasional use of hearing protection.
• Must be available for overtime and flexible shifts.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Stationary Engineer license preferred.

• Ability to create reliability reports and assess potential risks.
• Strong communication, leadership, and influencing abilities.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision.
• Negotiation and strategic problem-solving skills.
