Job Title: Shipping and Receiving Clerk
Job Location: Royal Oak, MI
Job Duration: 5 Months (Possibility of Extension)
Shift: Mon – Fri 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Pay Rate: $18/hr. on W2
Basic Purpose
Responsible for the shipping, receiving, and routing of materials into and out of the Business Unit (BU), including accurate documentation and data entry.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, inspect, verify, process, and route all incoming materials to the facility and remote sites.
- Enter receipts into the Materials Management system accurately.
- Report discrepancies between materials received and shipping documentation to the Warehouse Manager.
- Prepare outbound shipments, including all required documentation.
- Manage returned goods in accordance with the Returned Goods SOP.
- Deliver stock to designated staging areas for various departments.
- Store inventory in assigned locations and ensure proper stock rotation based on receipt and expiration dates.
- Identify and report short-dated materials (less than 30 days shelf life) to the Warehouse Manager.
- Assist with cycle counts and full physical inventory processes.
- Follow all applicable policies and procedures, including Materials Management, HR, Safety, Compliance, OSHA, and CLIA standards.
- Evaluate current processes and recommend improvements to the Warehouse Manager.
- Support order entry, picking, packing, and delivery for internal and external orders.
- Assist with record storage and retrieval as needed.
- Support internal, inbound, and external mail handling.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred)
Experience:
- Minimum 6 months of materials management experience
- Data entry experience preferred
- High-volume receiving experience strongly preferred (2+ years ideal)
Skills & Abilities
- Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
- Strong problem-solving abilities
- Effective communication skills
- Good organizational and record-keeping skills
- Proficiency with computers, printers, and barcode scanners
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.)
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Capable of lifting up to 50–70 lbs
- Ability to operate warehouse equipment (pallet jack; forklift not required)
