Medical Laboratory Technologist

Job Title: Medical Laboratory Technologist
Location: Manitowoc, WI 54220
Duration: 5 to 6 Months+ of contract

Shift: 2nd Shift – Variable
Schedule: Monday–Friday, variable hours (12:30 PM–9:00 PM or 1:30 PM–10:00 PM); weekends required (12:00 PM–8:30 PM); no on-call.
 
Education:

• Associate’s degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology, including an internship at an affiliated laboratory from an accredited institution, required within 2 months of hire.
  OR
• Combined military experience and training that aligns with CLIA and CAP requirements.

• MLT or MLS certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent required within 1 year of hire.
• ASCP certification or equivalent required within 6 months of hire.

• Performs laboratory procedures using established and approved protocols with independent judgment and minimal supervision.
• Responsible for quality control, instrument maintenance, and specimen procurement and processing.
• Addresses customer inquiries, requests, and concerns thoroughly, following through positively and appropriately.
• Effectively communicates both verbally and in writing.
• Notifies leadership of potential problems immediately to avoid compromising patient care.
• Recognizes abnormal or inconsistent results and investigates appropriately and timely.
• Demonstrates ability to prioritize and multitask to complete assignments in a timely manner.
• Maintains clean and organized workstations.
• Performs corrective action as appropriate and documents results accurately.
• Provides assistance in training new employees and students.
• Participates in continuing education annually.

 
Preferred Skills & Experience:
Two years of clinical laboratory experience preferred.
