We are looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Engineer 2 to join our team and play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of our Global Biscuit and Baked Snacks Pilot Plant. This includes leading infrastructure, mechanical, and commissioning projects, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and troubleshooting equipment issues. Technologies involved include mixers, industrial linear ovens, rotary sandwiching machines, cooling tunnels, pressure cookers, crème kitchens, etc.

In this role you will:
- Work independently and lead technical work across multiple projects aligned with R&D, effectively communicating status and risks.
- Lead activities designed to generate appropriate process information for pilot plant scale-up and factory trials in accordance with good manufacturing practice and HACCP requirements.
- Be involved with or lead process design and specifications, process scale-up, and commissioning.
- Ensure the effective use of resources, including external agencies.
- Manage stakeholders and influence decisions based on data analysis and interpretation of results.
- Create and maintain accurate consumer-centric process specifications.
- Leverage connections to internal and external technical communities.
- Create intellectual property that gives Mondelez International a competitive advantage.

Responsibilities:

Operations:
- Lead preventive maintenance program, scheduling, and planning.
- Identify and manage inventory of spare parts for unforeseen breakdowns.
- Train team on capabilities of how to operate newly implemented equipment.
- Lead commissioning and management of change (MOC) for equipment ensuring all safety, sanitation, electrical, and operational requirements are met.
- Support R&D trials troubleshooting to help achieve product specs and project goals.

Capital projects:
- Follow all Innovation Initiative Management principles (internal Mondelez PM methodology).
- Lead infrastructure capital projects by coordinating contractors and local teams to achieve tasks and milestones via weekly and daily (DMS) meetings.
- Develop and manage timelines (e.g., Microsoft Project) and use risk assessment tools (TRL, FMEA) to share progress, gaps, and next steps with leadership and project teams.
- Lead and support FAT and SAT checklists to ensure equipment warranty evidence.
- Own equipment supplier relations to ensure Mondelez goals are achieved within budget, product, and time.

Technical lead:
- Provide technical support to maintenance team by leading troubleshooting.
- Support root cause analysis with process data.
- Supervise mechanical and electrical work performed by contractors and electricians.
- Coordinate with other departments to resolve equipment and infrastructure issues.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, generate equipment performance reports, and provide insights for improvement.
Education / certifications:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical or Chemical preferred) or related field.
Job specific requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, R&D, or operations-related roles.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project).
- Open to learning budget software tools such as SAP, Coupa, Tungsten.
- Strong troubleshooting skills.
- Basic understanding or willingness to learn about motors, VFDs, electrical panels, etc.
- Ability to read and understand schematics.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision in a demanding environment.
- Effective interaction with vendors, production operators, team leads, and maintenance trades.
Additional qualities:
- Strong technical background with rigor to design unique engineering solutions.
- Champion culture of safety, sanitation, and operations in all engineering designs.
- Methodical approach to creating fit-for-purpose documents (SOP, OPL).
- Agile mindset to simplify operations using IL6S tools (5S, process mapping, CTQ, CTP, etc.).
