Job Title: Material Handler II
Shift: Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
Duration: 3 months
Location: Ann Arbor, MI 48109

Job Description:
Client provides a single source for coordinated lab service, support, and supply management. Our customized service offerings and world-class experts address unique laboratory business needs.
 
This position primarily supports Lab core functions including:

• Order entry and management
• Operating customer procurement systems
• Stockroom services
• Material handling
• Shipping/receiving
• Chemical tracking
• Glass-wash operations
• May also include lab-based tasks such as media/reagent preparation and cell culture support.

 
Responsibilities:

• Perform laboratory services (glassware collection/cleaning, biological waste collection/sterilization, media preparation, chemical inventory receipt/reconciliation)
• Deliver direct shipment orders to end users
• Promote personal growth by staying up to date on policies and procedures independently
• Respond to customer concerns with a focus on first-call resolution
• Embrace Practical Process Improvement (PPI) methodologies
• Represent in a professional and positive manner
• Perform other duties as assigned

1.           Fitness aspect (walking 6-8 miles a day)
2.           Lab environment experience
3.           Glass washing background
 
Required Skills:

• 1-2 years of equivalent experience required (material handling experience, Prior lab experience working around a lab)
• Must be able to lift, push and pull 30-40 pounds consistently; may be required to lift 50 lbs.
• Extensive walking may be required.
• Proven customer service skills
• Detail oriented, problem solver, promotes team environment
• Demonstrated verbal, written and presentation skills
• Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
• Basic Computer understanding
• Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently.
• Displays a high level of confidentiality for both customer and client!
• Must possess a strong desire to serve the customer, and the interpersonal skills to take care of various levels of personnel at the customer site.
• Must possess strong communication skills and customer focus to deliver excellent customer service including maintaining a professional appearance at all times.
• Must possess strong analytical skills to reconcile various reports to ensure customer requirements are met.
• Must possess the organizational skills to multi-task and meet deadlines as needed.
• Must be able to use a computer and possess intermediate skills in Microsoft Office suite of software.
• Works primarily at customer locations, in office environment to include cubicles and/or in and around shipping/receiving docks, stock rooms, storage locations and laboratory environments. May be required to work independently at customer location.

 
Preferred Skills:

• Experience in laboratory setting or services preferred
• Pallet Jack Experience
• Computer/software skills (i.e. Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint- Basic Skills)

 
Degree/Certifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
