Job Title: Animal Technician II
Location: Lexington, MA
Duration:12 Months+
Pay rate: $23.97/hr. on w2
Schedule: 40 hours per week but will need to be available some weekends. Weekend hours are sporadic but could be several in a row as needed.
Weekend support would include both Saturday and Sunday for 5-6 hours total for the weekend. Would take time off during the week when working weekends. No OT approved for this role.
Location: Onsite only - 33 Hayden, Lexington, MA.
Must Haves:
1) Hands-on experience in rodent animal handling and in-life measurements.
2) Hands-on experience with bleeding and sample collection
3) Dosing animals with different route of administration including PO, IP, and SC.
Purpose: Responsible for performing high level of animal handling, dosing, sample collections and data recordings. Contribute technical assistance to research projects in the NNRC rodent facility.
Relationships: Reports to Director, IN vivo Pharmacology. Internal relationships include working with technical and scientific members of the in vivo team, Laboratory animal sciences staff, Lab Operations, Research Associates and Research Scientists locally and globally
Essential Functions:
• Minimum of 3 year’s experience in animal science / lab support
• Bachelor's degree preferred
• Hands on experience in rodent animal handling and in-life measurements.
• Hands on experience with bleeding and sample collection
• Dosing animals with different route of administration including PO, IP, and SC.
• Performs and records daily food and health checks on various pharmacology studies
• Experience in animal anesthesia and euthanasia
• Performs post-procedural and post-surgical monitoring
• Performs sample and data collection
• Performs necropsy and tissue collection
• Receives and maintains adequate stock of animal care and research supplies
• Technical assistance with injections administration
• Ability to review, comprehend and comply with all standard operation procedures (SOPs) and quality assurance standards pertaining to laboratory animals
