Interventional Radiology Specialist
Join our dynamic healthcare team in Houston, TX, a vibrant city known for its diverse culture, world-class dining, and a thriving medical community. We are seeking a dedicated professional to perform exceptional quality routine and specialized interventional radiographic procedures. This role serves as a crucial liaison between patients, radiologists, and other support team members.
Duties
- Perform routine and specialized interventional radiographic procedures for interpretation by radiologists.
- Integrate scientific knowledge, technical skills, patient interaction, and compassionate care.
- Maintain accuracy in radiographic positioning and exposure technique.
- Possess, utilize, and enhance knowledge of radiation safety and protection.
- Prepare, administer, and document activities related to medications in accordance with state regulations and institution policy.
- Demonstrate understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
- Engage in continuing education to enhance patient care, public education, and technical competence.
- Provide training, education, and mentoring to students, technologists, nursing, residents, fellows, staff, and others.
- Participate in quality improvement processes and assess professional performance.
- Maintain a safe and hazard-free environment.
- Check room daily for adequate stock necessary to facilitate continuous exam flow.
- Confirm patient identity with approved identifiers.
- Prepare patients for procedures, verify pregnancy and informed consent statuses.
- Assess factors that may contraindicate the procedure.
- Determine type and dose of contrast agent based on patient’s age, weight, and medical/physical status.
- Anticipate and respond to patients' needs throughout the entire encounter.
Skills
- Knowledge of Radiology physics and procedures; understanding of Radiology principles appropriate for ages 0 – adulthood.
- Operation of all required equipment including troubleshooting when necessary.
- Basic life support and medical terminology understanding is required.
- Successful demonstration of professional fundamental competencies.
- Articulate, courteous, and supportive in dealing with patients, parents, nursing, faculty, administrative and departmental personnel.
- Honor confidentiality.
- Independently scan patients by following established protocols.
- Exhibit excellent verbal and written skills.
- Utilize basic office equipment, such as fax.
- Preferable if able to demonstrate bilingual skills.
- Exhibit knowledge and skills for various IR procedures.
