Job Title: Shipping and Receiving Clerk
Location: Sacramento, CA 95834
Duration: 2+ months
Shift: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Pay Rate: $17.18/hr. (W2)
Position Summary
Responsible for the shipping, receiving, and routing of materials into and out of the Business Unit (BU), including accurate documentation and data entry in the materials management system.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, inspect, verify, and process incoming materials; route them to appropriate internal or off-site locations.
- Accurately enter receipts into the materials management system.
- Report discrepancies between received materials and shipping documentation to the Warehouse Manager.
- Prepare outbound shipments, including all required documentation.
- Manage returned goods in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Deliver stock to designated staging areas for internal departments.
- Store materials in appropriate warehouse locations and ensure proper stock rotation based on receipt and expiration dates.
- Identify and report short-dated materials (less than 30 days shelf life) to the Warehouse Manager.
- Assist with cycle counts and full physical inventory processes.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable company policies and regulatory requirements (e.g., safety, quality, and operational standards).
- Recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Support order entry, picking, packing, and delivery for internal and external orders as needed.
- Assist with record storage, retrieval, and mail handling (internal and external).
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience:
- Minimum of 6 months of materials management or warehouse experience preferred.
- Basic data entry experience preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
- Strong problem-solving abilities
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Attention to detail and accurate record-keeping
- Proficiency with computers and standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel)
- Ability to operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks (as required)
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 70 pounds
- Capability to perform tasks involving standing, walking, and handling materials
