General Description:
Under general to limited supervision and direction, this intermediate-level position independently accepts clinical and non-clinical duty assignments to deliver specialized cardiovascular and/or radiologic technology services to adult and/or pediatric patients. The role supports medical staff in diagnosing, caring for, treating, and monitoring simple to complex conditions, defects, and diseases.
 
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Maintains competencies required to perform essential duties of a Level I position.
  • Utilizes intermediate-level professional knowledge, skills, and resources to provide safe, high-quality, efficient, and cost-effective patient-centered care under routine or emergency conditions across various care settings (acute inpatient, outpatient, diagnostic/urgent care centers, remote clinics).
  • Prepares patients for procedures and correlates clinical history with physician-ordered procedures.
  • Communicates and collaborates with patients, families, and multidisciplinary care teams to meet clinical outcomes, operational goals, and service expectations.
  • Uses specialized imaging equipment and techniques to perform diagnostic, interventional, and surgical procedures per established practice guidelines.
  • Conducts post-procedure reviews independently to ensure all study elements are complete, documented, and meet quality standards.
  • Transfers images and data to archival systems, enters technical findings, and prepares studies for physician reporting.
  • Performs operator-level quality control, cleaning, high-level disinfecting, and user maintenance following manufacturer instructions and regulatory guidelines.
  • Participates in continuing education, professional development, and research to maintain competencies and improve care and treatments.
  • Provides instruction and mentorship to less experienced team members.
  • Prepares and delivers in-service training relevant to the service area.
  • Assists with quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives as assigned.
 
Required Skills & Experience:
  • Proficiency in cardiovascular and/or radiologic technology principles, medical imaging, terminology, patient positioning, and medical ethics (dependent on assignment).
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, follow instructions, and reliably report to work as scheduled.
  • Sensitivity to patients’ physical and psychological needs.
  • Accurate record-keeping and attention to detail with names, numbers, and codes.
  • Sound judgment and discretion in handling confidential information.
  • Ability to multitask and maintain composure in stressful situations.
  • Understanding of operations, policies, and procedures.
  • Professional, polite, courteous, compassionate, and cooperative communication with staff, patients, and families.
  • High level of initiative, effort, and commitment to efficiently complete assignments.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and strong attention to detail.
  • Core to intermediate knowledge of normal and abnormal anatomy, physiology, cardiovascular/radiologic technology, and terminology related to specialty.
  • Skill to apply core to intermediate theory and practices to perform, post-process, analyze, and annotate study data or documentation with limited supervision.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete clinical/non-clinical assignments independently.
 
Preferred Skills & Experience:
  • Minimum one (1) year full-time experience as a certified or registered cardiovascular or radiologic technologist in the relevant specialty preferred.
