Phlebotomist I
Job Title: Phlebotomist I
Location: Gainesville, FL
Job Duration: 6+ Months (with possibility of extension)
Shift Timings: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM and every other Saturday
Job Summary:
The Phlebotomist I / Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) serves as the face of the organization, interacting directly with patients to collect quality blood specimens for laboratory testing. This role requires a high level of skill, professionalism, and compassion, ensuring patients feel comfortable and confident throughout the process. The PSR I is responsible for maintaining a safe and efficient work environment while adhering to established procedures and confidentiality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform daily specimen collection and processing tasks accurately and on time under supervisor direction.
- Create a welcoming and professional environment for patients.
- Collect forensic and clinical specimens with confidence and precision.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Promote a positive image of the organization to patients, clients, and the public.
- Follow all safety and confidentiality protocols.
Requirements:
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent (Required)
- Medical assistant or paramedic training (Preferred)
- Phlebotomy certification (Preferred; Required in CA, NV, WA)
Experience:
- Minimum 6 months of phlebotomy experience (Required)
- 1+ years of phlebotomy experience (Preferred)
- Customer service experience in retail or service environment (Preferred)
- Keyboard/data entry experience (Required)
Skills:
- Strong phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric draws
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as needed
Additional Information:
- Candidates must list home city and commute time on their resume.
- Commute time to the job site must be within 20–25 minutes.
- Reliable transportation is required (rideshare/bus not acceptable).
- Punctuality and full-shift availability are mandatory.
- Excessive absenteeism or tardiness will result in termination.
