Phlebotomist II - Float
Job Title: Phlebotomist II – Float
Location: Miami, FL
Duration: 6 months +, temp to hire position
Hours per Week: 40
Schedule:
- Shift: Monday – Friday, 5:30 AM – 2:30 PM
- Alternating Saturdays: 6:30 AM – 10:30 AM
- Flexibility Required: Must be available between 5:00 AM – 5:00 PM to cover call-outs or short-notice assignments at various sites
Position Overview:
The Phlebotomist II – Float (Patient Services Representative II) represents the face of the company by providing high-quality, patient-centered care during blood collection and lab specimen preparation. This mobile role requires travel between locations across the Miami area, demanding reliability, punctuality, and adaptability to dynamic staffing needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect venous and capillary specimens from patients, including pediatric and geriatric populations
- Prepare specimens for transport to laboratory following established protocols
- Ensure patient comfort, explain procedures clearly, and maintain a professional, compassionate demeanor
- Accurately verify and label specimens in the presence of the patient
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment at all assigned locations
- Travel to and provide phlebotomy coverage at multiple sites with minimal notice
- Follow company policies for health, safety, confidentiality, and quality assurance
- Maintain accurate records and documentation as required
- Promote a positive image of the organization with patients, coworkers, and external clients
Requirements:
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent (Required)
- Medical assistant or paramedic training (Preferred)
- Phlebotomy certification (Preferred; Required in CA, NV, and WA)
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric and geriatric collections (Required)
- At least 2 years of experience in a Patient Service Center or similar setting (Preferred)
- Customer service experience, ideally in healthcare or retail (Preferred)
- Proficient in data entry and basic computer use
Skills & Qualifications:
- Excellent specimen collection and patient interaction skills
- Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently
- Flexible and adaptable to changes in schedule or location
- Demonstrates professionalism, attention to detail, and a focus on patient care
- Comfortable working in high-volume and fast-paced environments
Additional Requirements:
- Reliable personal transportation (public transit, Uber, or rideshare is not acceptable)
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record (Required)
- Eligible to submit mileage for reimbursement when traveling between sites
- Must be punctual and dependable across all assigned locations
Work Environment:
This is a float position that supports multiple phlebotomy locations across the Miami, FL area. Candidates must be comfortable with same-day schedule adjustments and flexible travel within the region. Training site may vary based on trainer availability.
