Radiology Interventional Technologist

Job Title: Radiology Interventional Technologist
Location: Novi, MI
Duration: 3+ Months (Possibilities of Extension)
 
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (40 hours/week)
On-Call: Yes
Overtime: Yes
 
Job Summary:
Under the direction of a Radiologist, specializes in performing invasive procedures to aid in the evaluation of pathological entities as prescribed by a physician.
 
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Explain examination procedure to patients and prepare patients for the examination.
  • Obtain additional patient medical history as needed.
  • Prepare prescribed contrast media, medications, and IV solutions for administration.
  • Review clinical data on requisition, analyze anatomical structure, set up equipment, and assist Radiologist in performing complex diagnostic invasive procedures.
  • Prepare and set up sterile equipment, physiological monitors, pressure injectors, and imaging equipment for procedures.
  • Ensure adequate supplies (needles, catheters, etc.) are on hand and properly stored; replenish supplies as necessary.
  • Actively assess patient condition before, during, and after procedures.
  • Manually control equipment to obtain proper diagnostic information for the studied body area.
  • Assist with training new personnel or students assigned to the division.
  • Perform all imaging procedures following radiation protection principles, including shielding and dose reduction techniques (ALARA).
  • Resolve image exceptions and ensure high-quality image delivery into PACS; manage RIS study indexing and confirmations.
  • Demonstrate Team Member Standards of Excellence (AIDET, open communication, timely responses, positive attitude, innovation, diversity respect).
  • Perform Quality Assurance procedures as appropriate.
  • Document all procedures in medical records and radiology information system to support clinical and billing functions.
  • Utilize independent judgment for imaging techniques, patient positioning, and safety practices.
 
Education Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Must maintain required hours of continued medical education.
 
Certifications and Licensure:
  • Must maintain Healthcare Provider certification (BLS).
  • Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) with an advanced registry in one of the following:
    • Cardiac-Interventional Radiography (CI)
    • Vascular-Interventional Radiography (VI)
    • Cardiovascular-Interventional Radiography (CV)
 
Preferred Experience:
  • Minimum 2 years experience with neurological cases.
  • Experience in a comprehensive stroke facility preferred.
  • Vascular Radiography experience preferred.
 
Additional Information:
  • Responsible for room preparation using sterile techniques, patient prep, assisting physician during scrub-in, cleanup after procedures, and performing all 3D imaging.
  • Technology used includes Client and Cerner EMR.
  • Interview: 30-minute MS Teams session with Manager & Lead Tech.
