- Job Role: Registration Clerk (Float Pool)
- Location: Salinas, CA
- Contract Length: 13 Weeks (with potential for extension)
- Shifts: Grave: 11pm-730am
Responsibilities:
- Greet patients, families, and visitors in a professional and compassionate manner
- Interview patients or their representatives to obtain and verify accurate demographic, financial, and insurance information
- Register patients in the hospital s electronic system for both inpatient and outpatient services
- Collect and scan necessary documentation (e.g., insurance cards, photo IDs, Medicare/Medi-Cal cards)
- Obtain and verify necessary pre-authorizations for services when applicable
- Prepare and route admission paperwork including patient charts, wristbands, and labels
- Ensure proper patient identification procedures are followed
- Maintain up-to-date records by reviewing and correcting registration data
- Manage patient transfers, discharges, and bed swaps within the system
- Collaborate with physician offices to gather additional required documentation
- Comply with federal and state regulations related to patient rights, HIPAA, and Advance Directives
- Provide excellent customer service, particularly to individuals in distress or under pressure
- Operate effectively during the night shift and work independently with minimal supervision
Requirements:
- Minimum 1 year of experience in data entry or medical office administration
- Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Availability to work graveyard shift (11:00 PM 7:30 AM) on a 13-week contract basis
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology (preferred)
