Lab Assistant - 1st shift
Location: Tucker, GA
Duration: 3 Months (Possible Extension/ Temp to Fulltime)
Shifts: 10:00 am - 6:30 pm
Pay Rate : 17.20/hr on w2
Job Summary
Perform daily laboratory support activities with accuracy and precision to assist laboratory professionals and ensure efficient production.
Primary Responsibilities

Sort and receive specimens within the department.

Perform routine instrument maintenance on assigned equipment.

Carry out general laboratory tasks, including:

Centrifuging specimens
-
Printing additional labels
-
Recording data (e.g., temperature charts)
-
Storing and retrieving specimens
-

Prepare reagents and media as needed.
-
Set up specimens at workstations for testing, including:
-
Building worklists
-
Aliquoting specimens into sample cups
-
Checking for clots and fibrin
-
Inoculation and slide preparation
-
-
Perform assigned QA/QC duties.
-
Resolve pending lists and locate missing samples.
-
Decontaminate work areas and perform weekly radioactive wipe tests.

Maintain departmental files and records.
-
Change gas cylinders as required.
-
Follow all PPE protocols and safety regulations.
-
Use laboratory computer systems and PCs for daily tasks.
-
Safely dispose of biohazardous materials.
-
Complete all required training and competency checklists.

Education & Qualifications
-
High school diploma or equivalent required.
-
Medical assistant training helpful.
-
Math and science coursework preferred.
Skills & Special Requirements

Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple tasks for optimal workstation efficiency.

Strong retention skills and ability to follow procedures once learned.

Professional interaction with coworkers, internal staff, and external customers.

Excellent understanding of spoken and written English.

Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.

Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license (public transit/rideshare not accepted).

Must be punctual, dependable, and able to complete full scheduled shifts—excessive absenteeism or tardiness results in termination.
Work Environment
-
High-volume production setting with repetitive tasks.
-
Exposure to medical terminology (helpful but not required).
-
Required use of PPE including lab coat, mask, goggles, gloves, and other protective wear when handling specimens.
