Job Title: Certified Surgical Technologist
Location: Santa Fe, NM 87505
Duration: 3 months+ (with possibility of extension or conversion)

DEPARTMENT: Surgical Services / Patient Care Division
 
SHIFT: 5x8 (06:30–15:00)
 
REQUIRED:

• BLS from AHA.
• Surgical Tech certification.

• 1–2 twenty-four-hour weekend call shifts per schedule.

• 1–2 call nights per week.

• Float to other departments as needed.

• An integral member of the surgical team who provides support for surgeons throughout the operation by preparing, providing and caring for instruments and equipment and maintaining a sterile field.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduation from a school of Surgical Technology preferred.

• BLS certification required.
• Surgical Tech certification required.

• Knowledge of care and handling of instruments and equipment.
• Knowledge of sterilization and cleansing procedures.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate verbally in English.

• One or more years of experience in an acute care hospital setting in the operating room or an instrument care environment preferred.

• Responsible to: Clinical Manager Operating Room and Director, Surgical Services.

• Bloodborne Pathogens – Category C.
  • Employee will be instructed in Universal Precautions and Right to Know.
  • Employee will be expected to utilize all protective equipment available whenever there is a potential for exposure to infectious materials or hazardous chemicals.
  • Cleaning, repair, and replacement of this protective equipment will be furnished by the hospital.
  • Utilizes available tools to prevent worker injuries.

• Heavy physical effort requiring standing, walking, or lifting most of the day.
• Requires ability to speak, hear, and communicate verbal and written materials.
