Job Title: Pharmacy Tech I
Job Location: Tampa, FL
Job Duration: 3 Months (possibility of extension)
Shifts: Monday - Friday, 11:00am - 7:30pm

Location: 
  • Candidates must have an active and unencumbered Pharmacy Technician license in the state of Florida.
  • Working environment in a climate controlled distribution center.

Interview:

  • Manager will be conducting phone interviews for this role.

Job Summary:

  • Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, selects, prepares and packages medications and supplies in preparation for shipment to patients.
  • Performs record keeping functions.
  • Assists in various inventory control processes.

Duties:

  • Selects, picks, packages and labels medications and ancillary supplies per prescriptions, under the direct supervision of a Pharmacist in accordance with the Client specialty guidelines and pharmacy laws.
  • Accurate counting of medications utilizing a manual process as well as any automated counting devices.
  • Exercise proper hands sanitization and hazardous medication handling practices.
  • Performs functions &/or responsibilities of an Operations Assistant as needed.
  • Responsible for preparing and/or restocking the filling station with medications and/or supplies as needed.
  • Responsible for cleaning for all pill counting devices/equipment and general working areas.

Education:

  • Verifiable High School diploma or GED is required.
  • Candidates must have an active and unencumbered Pharmacy Technician license in the state of Florida.

Experience:

  • Six months of work experience as a pharmacy technician.
  • Prefer three months of work experience in a pick/pack/ship environment.
  • Prefer three months of work computer experience.

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Able to utilize computer applications to enter data accurately and in line with production standards.
  • Knows drug names and basic pharmacology knowledge.
  • Understands medical terminology utilized in a Pharmacy.
  • Able to collaborate with others to fill and ship accurate and timely orders.
  • Able to perform Ops Assistant responsibilities.
  • Must be able to recognize limitations on decision-making and escalate issues falling outside of that scope.
  • Pharmacy Technician registration required as prescribed by law or by Client policy.
  • Must have understanding of basic Pharmacy law.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand for duration of shift (8-10 hours).
  • Must be able to repeatedly lift 5-10 lbs. for duration of shift.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 30-50 lbs. during a shift.
  • Reaching and grasping objects at various levels is required.
  • While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is required to utilize a keyboard and operate departmental machinery.
  • Employee regularly works near and around moving machinery (conveyor belts).
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • The employee may be required to wear protective clothing or equipment.
