To provide administrative support for delivery of patient / family services within the Cancer and Hematology Centers including but not limited to requests for patient/family assistance and delivery of patient/family programming such as Make-A-Wish Foundation?

The Cancer & Hematology Center is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Patient/Family Assistant to support the delivery of high quality services for our patient families. This role provides critical administrative support.

Job Description:
To provide administrative support for delivery of patient / family services within the Cancer and Hematology Centers including but not limited to requests for patient/family assistance and delivery of patient/family programming such as Make-A-Wish Foundation?
Job Responsibilities:
- Provides customer-focused service and communicates effectively with patients, families, and visitors.
- Coordinates communications including phone calls, pages, and faxes in a friendly, professional, and timely manner.
- Welcomes and interacts with patients, families, and visitors in a professional, timely, age appropriate, and culturally sensitive manner.
- Responds to questions related to Medical Transportation Management systems, assistance requests, patient/family programming, events, and unanticipated challenges.
- Proactively approaches dissatisfied families and implements service recovery measures.
- Assists patients and families in completing forms and documents when requested.
- Ensures interpreter services are available as needed for patients and families.
The Cancer & Hematology Center is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Patient/Family Assistant to support the delivery of high quality services for our patient families. This role provides critical administrative support.
- Serve as a friendly, professional first point of contact for patients, families, and visitors in the Hematology/Oncology outpatient clinic.
- Coordinate communications including calls, pages, and faxes.
- Assist families with forms and service-related questions, including transportation and parking.
- Prepare confidential requests for financial support for families, including procurement card/check requests.
- Maintain required documentation and records with accuracy and compliance.
- Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.
Skills:
Required Skills & Experience:
- Two (2) years of experience in a healthcare environment providing administrative support or working with patients and families.
- Knowledge of customer service concepts.
- Knowledge of clerical procedures and administrative systems.
- Knowledge of insurance verification procedures and terminology.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Ability to demonstrate interpersonal skills, judgment, initiative, problem-solving skills, and time management skills.
- Ability to demonstrate professional listening and communication skills.
- Ability to use proper diction in verbal communication.
- Ability to use personal computers with proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, and applicable software.
- Ability to type a minimum of 40 words per minute.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Two (2) years of experience in a pediatric healthcare environment providing administrative support or working with patients and families.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English.
Education:
Required Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Education:
- Associates Degree in Human Development and Family Studies, Social Work, Business or in a healthcare-related field.
