Location: Anaheim, CA 92802
Shift: Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Onsite Position)
Duration: 12–18 Months (Contract-to-Hire)
Pay Rate: $75/hr – $83/hr (W2)
Job Summary:
- The Staff Electrical Engineer will lead and support electrical engineering projects across client facilities, acting as the Owner’s Technical Representative.
- This role involves overseeing a range of low- to medium-voltage (up to 5kV) projects from concept through implementation.
- Responsibilities include the development of bid-level design and construction documents, managing external consultants, and coordinating with architects and other engineering disciplines.
- The engineer will also develop RFPs, estimate workload and timelines, and occasionally support urgent, unplanned projects.
- This role reports to the Sr. Manager, MEP Engineering, DLR Architecture & Facilities Engineering.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership:
- Serve as Owner’s Technical Representative throughout the project lifecycle.
- Provide technical oversight and design reviews aligned with Client Master Design Specifications (DMGS).
- Witness and validate signing/sealing of construction documents when necessary.
Project & Design Management:
- Lead the design and development of contract documents using both in-house and external resources.
- Ensure projects meet defined scopes, schedules, and budgets.
- Coordinate design and field installation activities to meet code and specification standards.
- Enforce DMGS standards and electrical engineering best practices.
Technical Expertise:
- Develop concept designs and RFPs based on project requirements.
- Review and approve engineering calculations, specifications, and construction drawings.
- Ensure compliance with local and state codes, including California Electrical Code and Title 24.
- Review shop drawings and RFIs; conduct site visits to resolve issues and prevent schedule delays.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with internal teams to uphold design guidelines and master specifications.
- Support Project and Design Managers in addressing design compliance and documentation issues.
- Validate product specifications before archiving installation manuals.
- Foster communication and alignment across all project stakeholders.
Required Qualifications:
- Current, valid, and clear Professional Engineer (PE) license in Electrical Engineering (California).
- 8+ years of experience in electrical engineering design, calculations, code compliance, and construction support.
- Experience in commercial and industrial facilities (e.g., RD&E, CEP) involving cross-disciplinary collaboration.
- Deep knowledge of California Electrical Code, IEEE standards (Brown, Buff, Red books), and Title 24 Energy Code.
- Strong understanding of electrical safety principles and practices.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and lighting design software.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in team environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience acting as an Owner’s Representative on large-scale facilities projects.
- Experience writing and reviewing RFPs for engineering and construction services.
- Familiarity with enterprise-level facility management systems and documentation practices.
