Duties:
Peforms various duties as a member of the health team in the treatment and care of patients and their families and also assists with tasks to support the unit. Works under supervision of the RN. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of human growth and development over the life span,ability to recognize data reflective of the patients status and inform the Registered Nurse of observations

Education:
"Ability to read and write English at 10th grade level. Ability to perform math at 9th grade levelCertification as an NA/PCA preferred.Highly recommended: BCLAS Certificate, ACLS Certificate, PALS Certificate." AHA HeartSaver or BLS Required.

"Takes and monitors vital signs when necessaryPerforms EKG'sAssists wit medical procedures as requiredAssists with the placement of pulse oximetryPerforms routine maintenance/cleaning of equipment and instrumentsNotifies appropriate personnel regarding any malfunction in equipmentAssists in inventory control for medical supplies.Sets up oxygen and suction.Collects specimen sand brings to lab when necessary.Stoc exam rooms including educational materials.Retrieves Endoscopy reports from computer system as needed.Provides instruction and information to patients.Acts rapidly and calmly during emergencies, initiates CPR and provides the necessary items called for the team.Transport patients and equipment as needed.Performs any all duties involving direct patient care as assigned by the RN within the framework of the New York State Nurse Practice Act and BIMC Policy and Procedures."
