Job Title: Speech Pathologist
Location: San Antonio, TX 78251
Duration: 3 + Months (Possibilities of Extension)
Work Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Thursday – Monday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (5 days, 8 hours/day)
Patient Type: General medical, stroke, neuro, bedside; mostly adults, some merging with NICU
Required Certification:
- CCC (Certificate of Clinical Competence) from ASHA
- State licensure as Speech Language Pathologist
- BLS (AHA only)
- Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology from an accredited college/university
- Completion of Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) per ASHA guidelines
Job Summary:
- Provides speech-language pathology services including assessment, treatment plan development, implementation, follow-up, and discharge planning.
- Assists with clinical aspects of the department such as program development, operations, and Performance Improvement.
- Supervises Speech Language Pathology students and volunteers.
Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive diagnostic evaluations for speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing abilities.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans with measurable goals.
- Document patient care, including evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
- Participate in patient/family conferences, interdepartmental meetings, and educational programs.
- Counsel patients, families, and caregivers on treatment plans and provide education.
- Assist with coordination and supervision of students and volunteers.
- Support departmental operations, including staff orientation, patient scheduling, and supervision.
- Maintain departmental productivity and participate in Performance Improvement activities.
- Foster professional relationships with medical staff and referral sources.
- Adapt patient care to age-specific, developmental, cultural, and other needs.
- Participate in research and educational activities as appropriate.
Key Notes for Candidates:
- Must have CCC certification and state licensure.
- Must be comfortable working with both adult and NICU patient populations.
- BLS certification required.
- Pre-employment and annual health screenings required.
