The MA performs both clinical and administrative duties to ensure efficient and high-quality care. This role may involve cross-training to provide services across multiple sites and float as needed to maintain clinic operations.

Job Summary:
The Medical Assistant (MA) is a vital member of the patient-centered healthcare team who supports providers and helps patients feel comfortable during visits. The MA performs both clinical and administrative duties to ensure efficient and high-quality care. This role may involve cross-training to provide services across multiple sites and float as needed to maintain clinic operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Room patients efficiently using standard procedures to optimize patient flow and customer service.
- Perform clinical tasks such as point-of-care testing, medication and vaccination administration, phlebotomy, application of durable medical equipment, and assist with procedures per protocol.
- Manage administrative tasks including medication refills, prior authorizations, communicating normal test results, managing MyChart messages, and handling paperwork within standard turnaround times.
- Assist with appointment scheduling support and referral tracking per clinic guidelines.
- Provide patients with educational materials, instructions, and After Visit Summaries as directed.
- Accurately document all patient care in the EMR system, including level of service where applicable.
- Escalate patient safety or compliance concerns to appropriate care team members or leadership promptly.
- Participate in pre-visit planning and registry management according to clinic guidelines.
- Adhere to safety and infection control standards to maintain a safe patient care and work environment.
- Support inventory control and equipment maintenance.
- Perform specialty-specific clinical and non-clinical tasks as directed.
- Obtain appropriate patient consent documentation for applicable procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Experience:
- No specific prior experience required, though one year of healthcare experience is preferred.
Education Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Completion of one of the following:
- Medical Assistant program
- EMT-Basic course
- On-the-job trained Medical Assistant with one year of healthcare experience
- Completion of MA Apprentice program
Certifications:
- Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers (AHA or equivalent).
- Preferred: None specified.
