Phlebotomist I

Shift: 8am to 3pm Mon - Thur
Job Overview:
The PSR I serves as the front-line representative of Quest Diagnostics to patients seeking routine or life-defining health insights. This role involves direct patient interaction, skilled phlebotomy, and the preparation of specimens for laboratory analysis. The PSR I fosters a safe, professional environment and demonstrates leadership behaviors while maintaining a strong focus on confidentiality, process excellence, and patient trust.
Key Responsibilities:

Perform clinical and forensic specimen collection confidently and accurately, including venipuncture and capillary draws.

Prepare and process specimens for lab testing in accordance with established protocols.

Provide clear explanations of procedures to patients and create a calm, professional experience.

Maintain accurate and complete documentation of patient interactions and specimen details.

Adhere strictly to patient identification protocols and confidentiality standards (HIPAA compliance).

Promote a positive organizational image to patients, clients, staff, and the public.

Ensure daily activities are completed accurately and on time under the supervision of the area supervisor.

Maintain a clean, safe, and professional work environment.

Utilize process excellence and organizational skills to meet performance goals in a fast-paced setting.
Qualifications:
Education:
-
High school diploma or equivalent (Required)
-
Medical assistant or paramedic training (Preferred)
-
Phlebotomy certification (Preferred; Required in CA, NV, WA)
Experience:
-
Minimum 6 months phlebotomy experience (Required)
Skills & Attributes:
-
Strong phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric patients

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Strong attention to detail and commitment to error-free work

Flexible availability (weekends, holidays, overtime, on-call)

Professional communication and interpersonal skills

Reliable personal transportation (public transit, rideshare not accepted)
