Shipping and Receiving Clerk
Job Title: Shipping and Receiving Clerk
Job Location: Wood Dale, IL 60191
Job Duration: 6 months (high chance of extension)
Shift hours: Mon - Fri 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM CST.
Pay Rate: $18/hr. on W2
Job Summary:
The Materials Handler is responsible for the shipping, receiving, storage and distribution of materials within the Business Unit (BU). This role ensures accurate documentation, proper inventory management and timely movement of goods.
Key Responsibilities:
Receive, inspect, verify and process incoming materials and enter data into the materials management system.
Route materials to appropriate on-site and off-site locations.
Compare shipments with documentation and report discrepancies to the Warehouse Manager.
Prepare outbound shipments including packaging and documentation.
Manage returned goods according to standard operating procedures.
Store materials in designated areas and ensure proper stock rotation based on receipt and expiration dates.
Identify and report short-dated materials (less than 30 days shelf life).
Deliver stock to designated staging areas for departments.
Assist in cycle counts and full physical inventory.
Support order entry, picking, packing and delivery.
Assist with mail handling and record storage as needed.
Follow all safety, compliance and materials management policies.
Recommend process improvements where applicable.
Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum six months of materials management or warehouse experience preferred.
Basic data entry experience preferred.
Skills:
Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Good record keeping and organizational skills.
Ability to operate computers, printers and barcode scanners.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 70 pounds.
Ability to operate warehouse equipment such as forklift and pallet jack.
