Job Summary:
The Anesthesia Technician II is an experienced, fully competent professional who provides advanced support to anesthesia providers and interdisciplinary teams across all anesthetizing locations (OR, Cath Lab, OB/GYN, CV, and off-site areas). This role works independently, demonstrates advanced clinical and technical skills, and serves as a mentor to junior anesthesia technicians.

Location: Austin, TX
Duration: 3 Months + (Possible Extension)
Schedule:
- Primarily Monday–Friday
- 12-hour shifts: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- 8-hour shifts: 10:30 PM – 7:00 AM
- Rotation or straight 8s TBD
- On-call required for all shifts and weekends as needed
- Minimum 2 years of experience as an Anesthesia Technician
- Pediatrics and/or Women’s services experience preferred
Job Summary:
The Anesthesia Technician II is an experienced, fully competent professional who provides advanced support to anesthesia providers and interdisciplinary teams across all anesthetizing locations (OR, Cath Lab, OB/GYN, CV, and off-site areas). This role works independently, demonstrates advanced clinical and technical skills, and serves as a mentor to junior anesthesia technicians.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Support:
- Assist anesthesiologist with preparation and placement of neurophysiologic monitors.
- Connect patients to monitors during induction.
- Assist with intubation and maintenance of airway.
- Assist with insertion of IVs and invasive lines (arterial lines, central venous access).
- Support fiberoptic intubation and difficult airway management.
- Provide assistance during outside cases and invasive procedures.
- Perform salvaged blood processing per protocol when required.
- Assist with intraoperative volume infusions as directed.
- Provide continuous support to patient care team throughout procedures.
- Set up, calibrate, and troubleshoot anesthesia machines, airway equipment, pressure transducers, and IV fluids.
- Demonstrate advanced working knowledge of anesthesia and airway management equipment.
- Ensure all anesthetizing locations are properly prepared and stocked.
- Anticipate anesthesiologist needs during routine and emergency/trauma cases.
- Mentor and train junior anesthesia technicians.
- Demonstrate leadership and clinical competency across all anesthetizing environments.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Strong understanding of cardiopulmonary anatomy and physiology.
- Knowledge of infection control standards.
- Advanced troubleshooting skills for anesthesia-related equipment.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and respond quickly in emergencies.
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written English required).
- Ability to collaborate effectively with physicians and interdisciplinary teams.
- Demonstrates efficiency, timeliness, and preparedness, especially in trauma or emergent situations.
Work Environment:
- Fast-paced surgical and procedural settings (OR, Cath Lab, OB/GYN, CV, off-site locations).
- On-call coverage required, including weekends.
- Must be comfortable working nights and variable schedules.
