Phlebotomist II
Location: Mount Pleasant, IA, 52641
Duration:3 Months
Shift: CST
Patient-focused healthcare professional serving as the primary point of contact for patients in clinical and laboratory settings. Responsible for performing accurate and safe venipuncture and capillary blood collection, specimen processing, and ensuring compliance with established laboratory procedures. Builds trust with patients by clearly explaining procedures and delivering high-quality, compassionate care. Demonstrates strong attention to detail, confidentiality, and process excellence while supporting operational efficiency across multiple healthcare environments.
Core Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture, capillary puncture, and specimen collection for clinical and forensic testing
- Accurately label, process, and prepare specimens following standard operating procedures
- Verify patient identification, demographics, and specimen labeling to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Maintain documentation, records, and data entry in accordance with regulatory standards
- Provide patient education and clear communication to ensure comfort and understanding of procedures
- Create a safe, clean, and professional environment aligned with infection control and safety protocols
- Support multi-site operations, including patient service centers and physician offices as needed
- Demonstrate customer service excellence and promote a positive patient experience
- Work independently while meeting productivity, quality, and turnaround time goals

Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
- Medical Assistant, Paramedic, or related training (preferred)
- Phlebotomy Certification (preferred / state-dependent)
Experience Requirements
- 1–3 years of phlebotomy experience (including pediatric and geriatric collections)
- Experience in Patient Service Center (PSC) or clinical setting (preferred)
- Background in customer service or patient-facing roles (preferred)
- Proficiency in keyboarding and data entry systems
Work Environment & Expectations
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume healthcare setting
- Flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call shifts
- Willingness to travel between multiple locations as needed
- Strong commitment to policies, procedures, and safety standards
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
