Schedule: Night Shift | 11:00 PM – 7:15 AM
Hours:
37.5 hours/week | 7.5 hours/day | 5 days/week
Requirements: Must work every other weekend and float to all Med-Surg units
Experience:
Hospital experience required
Hourly rate: $21/hr. on W2 (Negotiable)


Role Overview:
The Patient Care Associate (PCA) plays a key support role in delivering patient-centered care in a medical-surgical setting. Working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), the PCA provides direct patient care, assists with clinical procedures, and ensures a safe, clean environment for patients.

Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Support & Patient Care
  • Record vital signs (BP, pulse, temperature, respirations) and patient intake/output
  • Collect specimens, perform venipuncture, EKG, and assist with procedures
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living: feeding, bathing, toileting, ambulation
  • Support skin integrity maintenance and post-mortem care
  • Monitor and report patient pain levels and comfort needs
  • Perform one-to-one and close observation for high-risk patients
  • Maintain and monitor isolation status per RN guidance
Environment & Equipment Management
  • Maintain a safe and clean patient environment
  • Assist in bed-stripping, trash removal, and emergency clean-ups
  • Support dietary tasks including meal delivery, menu assistance, and nutrition reporting
  • Transport patients via stretcher or wheelchair; operate pneumatic tube system
Administrative & Communication Tasks
  • Answer phones and patient call systems courteously
  • Escort visitors and provide information appropriately
  • Update patient communication boards and discharge logs
  • Manage Admission/Transfer/Discharge system entries
  • Assemble and manage medical records
  • Perform scheduled patient rounding and report issues promptly
Qualifications & Certifications:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Certification: BLS (AHA) certification required
  • Completion of PCA Orientation Program (if at The Client Hospital)
Skills & Requirements:
  • 3–9 months of prior healthcare experience preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize, solve problems, and adapt in fast-paced settings
  • Physical stamina and manual dexterity for patient care tasks
  • Fluency in English (oral and written)
