Pre-Analytical Assistant I - 3rd Shift

Location: Tampa, FL
Duration: 3+ Months (Possibility of Extension)
Shift: Tue – Sat | 2:30 AM – 11:00 AM

The Pre-Analytical Assistant I provides essential support within the Technical Operations Department, ensuring accurate specimen handling, compliance with regulatory standards, and timely workflow execution in a high-volume laboratory environment.

• Sort, rack, centrifuge, aliquot, and deliver specimens to designated laboratory areas.
• Maintain proper specimen storage and assist with operating sorters in archive mode when trained.
• Verify specimen types, quantities, and compliance with test ordering requirements.
• Identify and resolve issues related to missing information or incorrect specimen types.
• Accurately complete documentation and maintain legible records within required timeframes.
• Adhere to safety protocols, infection control standards, and compliance regulations.
• Support departmental goals by working weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as needed.
• Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced production environment.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with 5S workplace standards.

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Medical background or familiarity with medical terminology preferred.
• Previous experience in a production or laboratory environment is a plus.
• Basic computer skills; familiarity with mainframe systems preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., maneuver carts/racks, and stand/walk for extended periods.
• Strong English communication skills (spoken and written) required.
• Reliable transportation to and from the worksite (rideshare/bus not considered reliable).

• Heavy production site with repetitive tasks; must maintain accuracy and speed.
• Protective gear required when handling specimens (lab coat, gloves, mask, goggles).
• Excessive absenteeism or tardiness will result in termination.
