Job Title: QC Technician I
Location: Cincinnati, OH 45237
Duration: 11+ months (possibility of extension)

Shift: 2nd Shift, 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM
 
Pay rate: $25/hr. on W2

Job summary:
The QC Chemical Laboratory Technician assists QC analysts with support functions for routine analyses and documentation of any of the following: in-process, finished product, calibrations, stability samples, or projects within the QC Chemistry Laboratory, in a manner consistent with established standards. Supports internal development and/or manufacturing operations.
 
Duties and responsibilities:
  • Prepare test solutions including diluents and mobile phases.
  • Collect dirty glassware and clean glassware as needed.
  • Perform daily instrument calibrations/verifications as required.
  • Maintain clear documentation in accordance with pharmaceutical industry standards.
  • Coordinate and perform the collection of pharmaceutical waste from the laboratories, including dumping sample waste, removing/emptying solvent waste jugs, removing sharps containers, and other pharmaceutical wastes.
  • Clean and maintain work areas and instrumentation.
  • Track, receive, and log in solvents and other stock; order and stock the labs with supplies, including glassware; clean and organize general storage areas in the lab.
  • Assist dissolution analysts with instrument setup and cleanup.
  • Coordinate or assist in the coordination of safety, audit, or similar programs, including weekly checks of eye-wash stations.
  • Communicate effectively with personnel across multiple departments.
  • Perform all duties in strict compliance with Standard Operating Procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices, Good Laboratory Practices, Good Documentation Practices, and safety guidelines.
  • Maintain the necessary compliance status required by company and facility standards.
 
Education and experience:
  • Typically requires no previous related experience.
  • Work experience in a laboratory environment is preferred.
  • Degree in physical science, preferably in Chemistry or Biology.
 
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • Good knowledge and understanding of basic instrumental technologies and qualitative and quantitative chemical analyses.
  • Awareness of quality and regulatory requirements in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Good problem-solving skills and a logical approach to solving scientific problems.
  • Follow all company policies, SOPs, cGMPs, work instructions, methods, and analyst’s guidelines.
  • Demonstrate efficiency by multitasking and scheduling time to meet workload requirements.
  • Actively seek additional assignments when primary testing responsibilities are completed.
  • Take initiative and independently pursue training or learning opportunities to improve personal skills and share knowledge with team members.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical procedures and governmental regulations.
  • Ability to apply mathematical operations to tasks such as determining test reliability, analysis of variance, and correlation techniques.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Physical requirements:
  • Requires ordinary ambulatory skills and physical coordination to move around office and lab locations.
  • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch for prolonged periods; lift and move weights up to 50 pounds.
  • Arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp and type for long periods.
  • Visual acuity to use computers, equipment, and read materials for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear for extended periods.
  • Use of PPE: safety glasses, safety shoes, lab coat, latex or similar gloves, safety apron, organic respirator occasionally.
