Medical Assistant
Location: Lakeland, FL
Duration: 1+ month - possible extension
Shift:Mon to Fri - 6 AM to 3 PM & Rot Sat - 7 AM to 12 PM
Facility Site: ES Polk County Schools- Lakeland
Job Responsibilities:
The Medical Assistant is responsible for supporting both the front and back office, including greeting and rooming patients, scheduling, answering phones, taking vitals, drawing blood, administering vaccines, and providing additional clinical support wherever needed. Maintaining a collaborative relationship with the center’s staff is a key ingredient to success in this position.
This is a fully staffed multidisciplinary clinic, including:

X-Ray Technicians

Medical Office Assistants (MOAs)

Primary Job Responsibilities:
The Medical Assistant will support both front and back-office operations, including:
-
Greeting and rooming patients
-
Scheduling and answering phones
-
Taking vital signs
-
Drawing blood (phlebotomy/venipuncture)
-
Administering vaccinations
-
Performing EKGs and point-of-care testing
-
Supporting clinical workflows as needed
Team collaboration and delivering patient-centered care are key priorities.
Required Experience & Skills:
-
2–3 years of recent Medical Assistant experience (beyond externship)
-
Proficiency with EMR systems (Athena EMR preferred)
-
Phlebotomy/venipuncture experience required
-
Knowledge of Point of Care testing
-
Comfortable with front and back-office tasks
-
Ability to room patients, take vitals, and assist with EKGs
-
Excellent communication and attention to detail
-
Basic computer and scheduling skills
-
CPR or BLS certification (can start pending client approval if in progress)
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA preferred or state equivalent)
-
Occupational Health experience
-
Bilingual (English/Spanish)
-
Strong interest in health education and preventive care
