A database administrator (DBA) is an IT professional responsible for managing, maintaining, and securing an organization's databases, ensuring data is stored, organized, and accessible for analysis and business operations; oversee DB administration tasks like installation, configuration, backup, security, performance monitoring, and troubleshooting database issues.

After Hour Support:
To Note: We expect the consultant to be available as on-demand to support the existing Windows SQL server databases hosted in ****. The current DBA s will work to support the **** in the event of any windows server, SQL server databases patches and upgrades occurs at least once or twice per month.

Job Description:
A database administrator (DBA) is an IT professional responsible for managing, maintaining, and securing an organization's databases, ensuring data is stored, organized, and accessible for analysis and business operations; oversee DB administration tasks like installation, configuration, backup, security, performance monitoring, and troubleshooting database issues.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
Core Responsibilities:
- Perform SQL Server Monitoring
- Perform SQL Server Daily Check
- Provide database support for scheduled deployments
- Provide database support for troubleshooting issues
- Automation of tasks to reduce required level of manual intervention
- Track database connections and log the information
- Enforced ISO security requirements and policies
- Conduct an audit of databases access
- Automate alerts for expired/expiring passwords for users in database administrator group
- Check for unauthorized membership to database administrator group
- Report user access anomalies to ISO (Information Security Officer)
- Upgrade older SQL versions to a supported SQL version to take advantage of new security features
- Management of OLTP and OLAP SQL Server environments
- Power BI administration and support
- Snowflake administration and support
After Hour Support:
To Note: We expect the consultant to be available as on-demand to support the existing Windows SQL server databases hosted in ****. The current DBA s will work to support the **** in the event of any windows server, SQL server databases patches and upgrades occurs at least once or twice per month.
- Perform database validations after **** patching
- Troubleshoot non-standard job issues including extended delays and failures due to network latency issues, blocking and old code sets not being updated or optimized
- After-hour DBA support requested in advance for enhancements and break fixes
- Perform unplanned database restore by working with ****
Additional responsibilities include:
- Perform data engineering activities on the cloud to support data integration, data storage, data consumption, and data governance initiatives.
- Experience with AWS services including S3, Aurora, DynamoDB
- Configure Data Management practices on AWS using native services such as AWS Glue, AWS Data Zone, AWS Glue Data Catalog, API Gateway, and AWS Lambda.
- Leverage/Manage Datastores like Snowflake, SQL servers, RDS
- Implement a modern cloud datastore (Snowflake) to handle both structured and unstructured data.
- Enable automation using scripting languages like Python or Node.js.
- Provide support and training to end-users to enhance data literacy and tool usage within the cloud data ecosystem.
- Analyze the data lifecycle of business processes to identify opportunities for automation, simplification, and implementing appropriate solutions.
- Set up monitoring, logging, and alerting for cloud infrastructure to ensure system stability and performance.
- Optimize deployment pipelines for Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD).
- Manage version control using tools like GitHub, Jenkins and AWS Code Pipeline.
- Collaborate with senior team members and business stakeholders to deliver robust, cloud-based data solutions that improve customer experience.
- Support data governance activities to ensure data reliability, quality, and compliance with standards.
- Assist in designing scalable and resilient cloud engineering solutions aligned with evolving business needs.
- Develop both front-end and back-end components for cloud-based data applications as needed.
